WELCOME TO THE GREENE COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY
Bringing physicians together to improve the health of our community.
Representing over 350 physicians in southwest Missouri, the Greene County Medical Society (“GCMS”) is the entity which pulls physicians together as a profession regardless of other affiliations.
The Greene County Medical Society has a long history of innovation, leadership, education, advocacy, and service. With health care reforms upon us, it is very important that physicians become well-positioned to adapt to any changes in the health care environment. GCMS is a vehicle that helps us be more organized and have a voice in the upcoming changes as we participate and contribute in shaping the presence and future of our profession and our community.
We invite all physicians in southwest Missouri to participate. Join us as we work together as physicians and in collaboration with organizations in our communities to address the needs of our patients and our professions.
REMEMBERING DR. GARY HOOS.
We are saddened at the loss of a highly respected community physician and long time member of GCMS. Our good friend and colleague, Dr Gary Hoos was killed in a tragic accident July 12th. He will be remembered as a exemplary physician, community member, and GCMS leader. Dr. Hoos joined GCMS in 1987. He was on the executive council for many years and served as president in 2001. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Hoos provided care for three decades in Cancer and Hematology to patients across Southwest Missouri here in Springfield as part of Mercy Clinic and provided outreach cancer care in Lebanon. As a caring physician and healthcare leader, Gary will be greatly missed by his family, his colleagues, and his patients. His memorial tribute will be in the September Journal.
